When you see a woman wearing hosiery what do you think? It's a nice sheen, it's a good colour, or are they stockings or tights? Our research into hosiery and perception has shown some interesting results, although no research provides an definitive answer.

The question as to whether a woman in the street, office, pub etc. is wearing stockings has a lot to do with colour. Males tended to ask the stocking/tights question when the hosiery colour was darker. The darker the hosiery the more males looked for other signs, such as suspender or garter clips pushing against outer clothing. High-heels also seemed to suggest the lady in question was wearing stockings. One thing above all else posted the strongest sign of a stocking wearer and this was if the hosiery had a back seam. All the aforementioned are no actual indicator and unless you can flesh above a stocking top.

It's a fantasy of many males that the woman they see as attractive does wear stockings. The chance of glimpsing thigh above stocking top occupies many a mans mind. Does this mean women who wear stockings always have a sexual motive in so doing? No! Research suggests the stocking wearing woman does so for a variety of reasons from sensuality to perceptions of health.
